Glass balustrade with stainless steel posts and handrails on a staircase and mezzanine

Custom fabrication

Stainless Steel & Glass Balustrades

Stainless steel and glass gives stairs, landings and balconies a bright, open finish that’s easy to keep clean. We make posts, handrails and fixings in satin or mirror-polished stainless steel and pair them with toughened laminated safety glass, for homes, offices, hotels and public buildings.

Balustrade systems

Choose the look, and we’ll engineer the posts, fixings and glass to suit the load and the location.

Posts & glass

Glass panels held between stainless steel posts with clamps, under a continuous handrail. Versatile, and ideal for stairs.

Frameless glass

Glass set into a base channel or fixed with discreet point fixings, with or without a slim stainless cap rail on top.

Rod & wire infill

Stainless posts with tensioned wire or rod infill, a light, modern look for terraces and commercial spaces.

Stainless handrails

Wall-mounted or post-mounted stainless steel handrails for stairs and ramps, straight, raked or curved.

Fixings
Top-fixed base plates, side-fixed to stair strings or slab edges, or a concealed base channel.

Why laminated glass?

Where glass forms the barrier, laminated glass stays held together if it breaks, so the guarding stays in place. We specify toughened laminated glass for balustrades as standard.

How it works

From your first sketch to the finished metalwork, one team handles the design, fabrication and finishing.

  1. 1

    Send us your details

Upload drawings, a sketch or photos with the main measurements. Architect’s plans and CAD files (PDF, DWG, DXF) are welcome.

  2. 2

    Design & quote

You get a price and a lead time. Once you go ahead, our drawing office prepares fabrication drawings for you to approve. A site survey can be arranged where needed.

  3. 3

    Fabricate & finish

Coded welders make your metalwork in our certified workshop, then it is galvanised, powder coated or polished to the finish you chose.

  4. 4

    Deliver or install

We deliver supply-only orders anywhere in mainland UK, with fixings and instructions, or our own team installs it for you.

Stainless steel and glass questions

Is stainless steel suitable outdoors?

Yes, in the right grade. We use 316 marine-grade stainless steel outside. Like any stainless steel it should be washed down from time to time, especially near the coast or busy roads, to keep it free of surface staining.

What glass do you use?

Toughened laminated safety glass, with the thickness specified for the balustrade system and the loads it has to take. If a pane is ever broken, the laminate keeps it held together until it can be replaced.

Can I have frosted, tinted or printed glass?

Yes. Frosted or etched glass adds privacy, tinted glass reduces glare, and manifestation bands or logos can be applied for commercial buildings.

Can you fit stainless and glass to an existing staircase?

Usually, yes. Posts can be side fixed to the stair string or top fixed to the treads and landing. We’ll need accurate measurements or a survey, and photos showing what the stair is made of.

Satin or mirror polish?

Satin is the more practical choice for busy areas because it hides fingerprints and light scratches. Mirror polish makes a striking feature and is slightly easier to wipe clean outdoors.

Have drawings or measurements?

Send them over with a few details about the job and we’ll come back with a price and a lead time. A photo of a sketch with measurements is enough to get started.
